For The
High Desert Power Project
Application For Certification
(97-AFC-1)
The High Desert Power Project, Limited Liability Company (LLC) is proposing to
construct and operate a 680 to 830 MW natural gas fueled electricity generation power
plant. The proposed project is to be located in the northeast corner of the Southern
California International Airport (formerly George Air Force Base), in the city of
Victorville, in San Bernardino County, California. The power plant and related facilities,
such as the electric transmission line, natural gas pipeline and water lines, are under the
California Energy Commission's (Energy Commission) siting authority.
On December 3, 1997, the Energy Commission deemed the Application for Certification
(AFC) for the project complete. The Energy Commission staff, in consultation with local,
state and federal agencies has begun its review of the AFC. Staff has requested additional
information from the applicant in the form of data requests. Please contact Richard
Buell (see below) if you wish to receive a copy of staff's data requests. On December 30,
1997, the Energy Commission staff will conduct a public workshop to allow the applicant
to request clarification regarding staff's engineering and environmental data requests.
The workshop will also be used to exchange information regarding both engineering and
environmental topics related to the Energy Commission's review of the project. A
workshop summary will be posted on the Energy Commission's Internet home page (see
address below). This public workshop will be held:
