The High Desert Power Project, Limited Liability Company (LLC) is proposing to construct and operate a 680 to 830 MW natural gas-fired electricity generation power plant. The proposed project is to be located in the northeast corner of the Southern California International Airport (formerly George Air Force Base), in the city of Victorville, in San Bernardino County, California. The power plant and related facilities, such as the electric transmission line, natural gas pipeline and water lines, are under the California Energy Commission's (Energy Commission) siting authority.
On December 3, 1997, the Energy Commission deemed the Application for Certification (AFC) for the project complete. The Energy Commission staff, in consultation with local, state and federal agencies has begun its review of the AFC. Staff has identified transmission system engineering topics which it would like to discuss with the applicant and otherinterested parties. These discussion topics are contained in staff's data requests that were submitted to the applicant on December 17, 1997. On January 8, 1997, the Energy Commission staff will conduct a public workshop to discuss these topics. A workshop summary will be posted on the Energy Commission's Internet Web Site (see address below). This public workshop will be held:
