The High Desert Power Project, Limited Liability Company (LLC) is proposing to construct and operate a 680 to 830 MW natural gas fueled electricity generation power plant. The proposed project is to be located in the northeast corner of the Southern California International Airport (formerly George Air Force Base), in the city of Victorville, in San Bernardino County, California. The power plant and related facilities, such as the electric transmission line, natural gas pipeline and water lines, are under the California Energy CommissionŐs (Energy Commission) siting authority.

On December 17, 1997, the Energy Commission staff submitted data requests to the applicant on a number of topics. The applicant has provided responses to most of these data requests. On Wednesday February 25, 1998 the Commission staff will conduct a public workshop to discuss the applicantŐs responses. In addition, staff wishes to discuss environmental issues associated with the Energy CommissionŐs approval of the project. The topic areas to be addressed at the workshop will include air quality, biological resources, cultural and paleontological resources, hazardous material handling, land use, and water resources.
