NOTICE OF DATA RESPONSE & ISSUE WORKSHOP
FOR THE HIGH DESERT POWER PROJECT
APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATION
(97-AFC-1)



The High Desert Power Project, Limited Liability Company (LLC) is proposing to construct and operate a 680 to 830 MW natural gas fueled electricity generation power plant. The proposed project is to be located in the northeast corner of the Southern California International Airport (formerly George Air Force Base), in the city of Victorville, in San Bernardino County, California. The power plant and related facilities, such as the electric transmission line, natural gas pipeline and water lines, are under the California Energy Commission's (Energy Commission) siting authority.

On December 3, 1997, the Energy Commission deemed the High Desert Power Project Application for Certification (AFC) complete. The Energy Commission staff, in consultation with local, state and federal agencies has begun its review of the AFC. On Tuesday April 14, 1998, the Energy Commission staff will conduct a public workshop to discuss environmental issues, including air quality (the emission offset plan and best available control technology), hazardous materials, and visual resources.
