NOTICE OF DATA RESPONSE AND ISSUE WORKSHOP
FOR THE HIGH DESERT POWER PROJECT
APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATION
(97-AFC-1)
The High Desert Power Project, Limited Liability Company (LLC) is proposing to
construct and operate a 680 to 830 MW natural gas fueled electricity generation power
plant. The proposed project is to be located in the northeast corner of the Southern
California International Airport (formerly George Air Force Base), in the city of
Victorville, in San Bernardino County, California. The power plant and related facilities,
such as the electric transmission line, natural gas pipeline, and water lines, are under the
California Energy Commission's (Energy Commission) siting authority.
The applicant has proposed an additional 26 mile natural gas pipeline to connect the
project to the PG&E or Kern River pipelines. The pipeline will follow Helendale Road
north of the project site to State Route 58. On Thursday, April 30, 1998, the Energy
Commission staff will conduct a public workshop to discuss environmental and
permitting issues associated with the additional natural gas pipeline, and to discuss
environmental issues associated with the power plant proposal, including biological
resources, cultural resources, land use, paleontological resources, and water resources. If
you wish to receive a copy of staff's proposed agenda, please contact Richard Buell (see

www.energy.ca.gov/sitingcases/highdesert/documents. A workshop summary will also
be posted on the Energy Commission's Internet page. This public workshop will be held:
