Purposes: On February 11, 2004, the staff of the California Energy Commission filed its Draft Initial Study (DIS) for the Kings River Conservation District Peaker Project (03-SPPE-2). The staff's DIS is available for download from our web site at:www.energy.ca.gov/sitingcases/kingsriver; or you may contact the project secretary at the address below if you wish to have it mailed to you. The purpose of this workshop is to gather additional information and work through final issues in preparation of the Final Initial Study. Staff welcomes comments on the DIS from members of the public, the applicant, intervenors in the proceeding, and local, state and federal agencies. Written comments are needed by February 27, 2004.
Project Summary: Kings River Conservation District proposes to construct and operate a 97-megawatt (MW) generation plant called the Kings River Conservation District Peaker Plant (KRCDPP). The project is proposed to be located on a 9.5-acre site near the community of Malaga, at 2611 E. North Avenue, in Fresno County California. The 97-megawatt, natural gas-fired, simple cycle plant would consist of two General Electric LM 6000 SPRINT combustion turbines. Part of the proposed project includes the construction of approximately 0.75 miles of new 115-kV transmission line, approximately 700ft of natural gas supply line, a 750ft water supply line, and a wastewater line tying into existing Malaga County Water District resources.
