Notice of a Preliminary Staff Assessment Workshop
For the La Paloma Generating Project
Application For Certification
DOCKET NUMBER 98-AFC-2
La Paloma Generating Company, LLC is proposing to construct and operate a nominally rated 1,048 megawatt (MW), natural gas-fired, combined cycle electric generating power plant in Kern County. The plant is proposed to be built approximately 40 miles west of the city of Bakersfield and 2 miles east of the unincorporated community of McKittrick. In addition, the project will require construction of a 370 foot natural gas pipeline, a 13.6-mile 230 kilovolt (kV) transmission line that will interconnect with Pacific Gas and Electric's Midway Substation at Buttonwillow, an 8.0-mile water line connected to the California Aqueduct, a 700,000-gallon water storage tank, and a 2.0-mile potable water pipeline to McKittrick.
The Energy Commission staff expects to complete and file its Preliminary Staff Assessment (PSA) on February 5, 1999. Staff will be seeking input from the applicant, other agencies and the general public by holding a public workshop. The workshop will consist of two parts on the same day, an afternoon session and an evening session.
