Notice of Addition of a Socioeconomics Related Topic
to the Air Quality Workshop
For the La Paloma Generating Project
Application for Certification

La Paloma Generating Company, LLC is proposing to construct and operate a nominally rated 1,048 megawatt (MW), natural gas-fired, combined cycle electric generating power plant in Kern County. The plant is proposed to be built approximately 40 miles west of the city of Bakersfield and 2 miles east of the unincorporated community of McKittrick. In addition, the project will require construction of a 370 foot natural gas pipeline, a 14.2 mile 230 kilovolt (kV) transmission line that will interconnect with Pacific Gas and ElectricÕs Midway Substation at Buttonwillow, an 8 mile water line connected to the California Aqueduct, a 700,000 gallon water storage tank, and a 2 mile potable water pipeline to McKittrick.

Energy Commission staff has scheduled a workshop to discuss comments on the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control DistrictÕs (District) Preliminary Determination of Compliance and possible changes that will be contained in the DistrictÕs Final Determination of Compliance. Staff has added a discussion to the workshop of the socioeconomics topic pertaining to fire truck acquisition. The workshop will be held:
