Notice Of A Workshop to Discuss Energy CommissionLa Paloma Generating Company, LLC is proposing to construct and operate a nominally rated 1,048 megawatt (MW), natural gas-fired, combined cycle electric generating power plant in Kern County. The plant is proposed to be built approximately 40 miles west of the city of Bakersfield and 2 miles east of the unincorporated community of McKittrick. In addition, the project will require construction of a 370 foot natural gas pipeline, a 13.6 mile 230 kilovolt (kV) transmission line that will interconnect with Pacific Gas and Electric's Midway Substation at Buttonwillow, an 8 mile water line connected to the California Aqueduct, and a 2 mile potable water pipeline to McKittrick.

The Energy Commission staff has begun its evaluation of the project and has prepared data requests to obtain additional information from La Paloma. The purpose of the workshop is to discuss and explain the data requests and to provide La Paloma and the public an opportunity to ask clarifying questions. Data requests are being made in the areas of land use, air quality, water resources, biological resources, paleontological and cultural resources. The workshop will be held:
