Staff Assessment Workshop

Magnolia Power Plant Project (01-AFC-6)


Purpose: The staff of the California Energy Commission will hold a workshop for the proposed Magnolia Power Project. The purpose of the workshop is to discuss the recently released Staff Assessment (SA). Discussion topics include Air Quality, Biological Resources, Land Use, Traffic and Transportation, Transmission System Engineering, Visual Resources, Soil and Water Resources and Worker Safety and Fire Protection, as well as other areas that may be added to the workshop discussion. Written comments are requested by January 22, 2002.
Time: Wednesday, January 23, 2002
Beginning at 9:30 a.m., ending at 5:30 p.m

Project Summary: The Southern California Public Power Authority filed an Application for Certification (AFC) for the Magnolia Power Project seeking approval from the California Energy Commission to construct and operate a nominal 250 megawatt (MW) natural gas-fired, combined cycle power generating facility at the existing 16-acre Magnolia Power Station site in the City of Burbank at 164 West Magnolia Boulevard.
Public Participation: The public and agencies are encouraged to participate and provide oral or written comments. Written comments must be submitted to the Project Manager no later than 3:00 p.m. January 22, 2002.
