[California Energy Commission Letterhead]

On November 30, 1999, Pastoria Energy Facility, LLC filed an Application for Certification (99-AFC-7) for the proposed Pastoria Energy Facility Project. The proposed 750 megawatt electric generation facility will burn natural gas and is proposed to be located on the Tejon Ranch at the base of the Tehachapi Mountains in Kern County.

The Preliminary Staff Assessment (PSA) contains the California Energy Commission staff's draft environmental and engineering evaluation of the project. We will be conducting publicly noticed workshops on the PSA. From these workshops and additional information will be gathered. We will then revise the PSA and file a Final Staff Assessment. These workshops will be separately noticed. The public, and local, state and federal agencies are encouraged to participate.
