Continuation Workshop |
| Purpose: | The staff of the California Energy Commission will hold a continuation workshop session for the proposed Central Valley Energy Center (CVEC) Project. This session is a continuation of a workshop held in San Joaquin on March 7, 2002. The purpose of this continuation session is to discuss the Applicant's data responses in transmission system engineering, and to try to resolve outstanding issues. |
| When: | WEDNESDAY MARCH 13, 2002 |
| Where: | California Energy Commission Hearing Room B 1516 Ninth Street Sacramento, California |
| Time: | 1 p.m. - ending no later than 5:30 p.m. |
| Project Summary: | Calpine Corporation proposes to develop the Central Valley Energy Center (CVEC), a nominal 1060-megawatt, natural gas-fired, combined cycle power plant, to the West of the intersection of W. Colorado Avenue and Springfield Avenue in an industrial area on the southern edge of the City of San Joaquin. The plant would use approximately 7,000-acre-feet per year of reclaimed water for cooling tower operations and other purposes, supplied by the Fresno-Clovis Wastewater Treatment Facility via 21 miles of 27-inch pipeline. The City of San Joaquin would provide domestic water for drinking, showers, sinks and general sanitary purposes. Natural gas for the plant would be provided via approximately 20 miles of new 24-inch pipeline that would connect to PG&E's existing natural gas system near I-5. The project would interconnect with PG&E's electric transmission system at the Helm substation through a 0.25 mile transmission line. |
| Public Participation: | The public is encouraged to participate and provide comments at the workshop. People who do not wish to travel to Sacramento can participate via teleconference by calling 1-888-566-5785, and then provide the passcode, which is 43451, and the name of the conference leader, which is Matt Trask.
