On June 25, 2007, CVP Sentinel, LLC, (Sentinel) submitted an Application for Certification (AFC) to the California Energy Commission to construct and operate a simple-cycle (peaking) power plant. The Sentinel Project is a proposed nominally rated 850 megawatt (MW) electrical generating facility that would encompass 37 acres of land situated within unincorporated Riverside County, California, adjacent to the Palm Springs northern city limits. The proposed project consists of eight natural gas-fired General Electric LMS100 combustion turbine generators operating in simple-cycle mode. The Energy Commission will determine whether the proposed project complies with applicable laws related to public health and safety, environmental impacts, and engineering requirements.
Purpose of the Status Conference
This Status Conference is sponsored by the Energy Commission to inform the Committee, the parties, and the Community about the project's progress to date in the AFC process and to set a new project schedule.
Currently, the Committee Scheduling Order of October 15, 2007, has lapsed with scheduled events lagging approximately four to five months behind their originally scheduled due date. To assist the Committee and participants in understanding the process, Applicant and Staff shall file a proposed schedule for the remainder of the siting process on or before July 25, 2008.
At the Status Conference, parties should be prepared to inform and advise the Committee on how the project's current status may affect their proposed schedule for review of the AFC application.
