Addition of Recycling Option for Wastewater Disposal
Sunrise Power Project (98-AFC-4C)
Project Location: Approximately 35 miles southwest of Bakersfield, 2.5 miles south of the community of Derby Acres, in Kern County, California.
Description of Project: The construction of a 0.9 mile underground pipeline that will transition to an existing above-ground piperack to TCI's softwater treatment plant at Station 2-22 for disposal of wastewater derived from simple-cycle operations. The Sunrise Power Project was certified by the California Energy Commission on December 6, 2000. It is a nominally-rated 320 megawatt natural gas-fired, simple-cycle peaking power plant that commenced operation on June 27, 2001.

Reasons Why Project is Exempt: The construction of the wastewater pipeline is minor in nature and will not result in any adverse environmental impacts.
