Project Title: Wastewater Disposal Pipeline and Two Injection Wells Sunrise Power Project (Docket #98-AFC-4C)

 

 

Project Location: Thirty-five miles southwest of Bakersfield, one mile southwest of the intersection of State Route 33 and Shale Road in Kern County.

Description of Project: The construction of a 2.5 mile underground pipeline and two injection wells to provide a wastewater disposal option for the current simple-cycle operations for the Sunrise natural gas fired power plant, which commenced commercial operation on June 27, 2001.

Name of Public Agency Approving Project: California Energy Commission

Name of Person or Agency Carrying Out Project: Sunrise Power Co.

Exempt Status: CEQA Guidelines, Section 15304, Minor Alterations to Land

Reasons Why Project is Exempt: The construction associated with and the operation of the proposed pipeline and injections wells is minor in nature and will not result in any adverse environmental impacts.
