NOTICE OF STATUS AND
SCOPING CONFERENCE

The Committee for the above-captioned proceeding will hold a Committee Conference to receive information on the status of the proceeding and to hear the views of the parties regarding the appropriate scope of project analysis for the purposes of complying with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The Committee Conference will take place as follows:

TUESDAY, MAY 25, 1999
California Energy Commission
Beginning at 9 a.m.
First Floor Hearing Room A
1516 Ninth Street
Sacramento, California
(Wheelchair accessible)

Prior to the Committee Conference, all parties shall file a document containing the following:

Status Report #2 This was required by the Committee Scheduling Order of April 1, 1999, and was previously noticed as due on May 18, 1999.

Statement on the Appropriate Scope of Environmental Review This should include information which can help the Committee identify the actions, alternatives, mitigation measures, and significant effects to be analyzed in depth during the case. It may also help to identify less important issues that the Committee need not study in detail. The filed statements should reflect opinions on the scope of the project which have been previously expressed in public workshops by responsible state and federal agencies and by members of the public. [See CEQA Guidelines, Title 14, California Code of Regulations, sections 15082, 15083.] In the event that the parties disagree on the appropriate scope of analysis, the Committee will, in order to reduce delays in the process, issue an order which determines the scope of project review.

The document containing Status Report #2 and the statement on project scope must be received at the Commission's Docket Unit no later than noon on Friday, May 21, 1999. Copies must also be served on all other parties.

Those interested may participate in all phases of the licensing process in a variety of ways.
