The California Energy Commission staff is currently reviewing the Sutter Power Project Application for Certification. The project, as proposed by Calpine Corporation, is a 500 megawatt (MW), natural gas-fired power plant in Sutter County. The plant is proposed to be built adjacent to their existing 49.5 MW Greenleaf Unit No. 1 gas-fired cogeneration facility, located about seven miles southwest of Yuba City. In addition, the project will require construction of a new, 12 mile, natural gas pipeline and a 5.7 mile electric transmission line. Because the project will interconnect with Western Area Power Administration's (Western) 230 kilovolt (kV) electric transmission system, the review will be completed jointly with Western.
On May 13, 1998, Calpine filed supplemental information changing the proposed transmission line route. The purpose of the staff sponsored workshop will be to discuss the new transmission route. We will also discuss air quality, project site drainage, water supply and other related subjects. The public is encouraged to attend and participate. The workshop will be held at the time and location noted below:
WEDNESDAY, June 3, 1998The location of the meeting is wheelchair accessible.
