Purpose: The California Energy Commission staff will hold a Data Response workshop for the proposed Tesla Power Project so that the applicantŐs representatives, interested agencies, and the public can discuss project issues and data responses submitted by the applicant on May 17, 2002. Please review the attached workshop agenda for details on the subjects to be discussed. If you have questions in a particular technical area, please contact the project manager identified below five days in advance of the meeting date so that appropriate technical staff can plan to attend.
Project Summary: On January 9, 2002, the Energy Commission deemed the Tesla Power Project (TPP), Application for Certification (AFC) data adequate. This begins the Energy CommissionŐs review process. TPP is seeking approval from the California Energy Commission (Energy Commission) to operate a nominal 1,120-megawatt natural gas-fired combined cycle power generating facility. The site is located on a 60-acre portion of a 160-acre parcel in Alameda County, approximately 0.5 miles north of the PG&E Tesla substation. The proposed Tesla Power Project would consist of four natural gas fired generators, and two steam turbine generators. The project will also include 0.8 miles of double-circuit 230-kV transmission line connected to the Tesla PG&E substation, a 24 inch 2.8 mile natural gas pipeline, and a 1.7-mile water line constructed along the Midway Road. Public Participation: The public is encouraged to participate and provide comments as early in our process as possible. For information on how to participate in the Energy CommissionŐs review of the proposed project, please contact Roberta Mendonca, the Energy CommissionŐs Public Adviser, at (916) 654-4489, toll free in California at (800) 822-6228, or by e-mail at PAO@energy.state.ca.us.
