Purpose: The purpose of this workshop is to gather additional information and work through final issues in preparation for the Final Staff Assessment (FSA). The topics to be covered at this workshop are: biological resources, fire protection, land use, transmission system engineering, visual resources, water resources/cooling alternative supply, and project schedule. Staff welcomes comments on these subjects from members of the public, the Applicant, intervenors, and local, state and federal agencies. Written comments on this workshop are needed by December 12, 2002.
Project Summary: On October 12, 2001, Midway Power, LLC (MPLLC), a Delaware limited liability company and subsidiary of Florida Power and Light (FPL), filed an Application for Certification (AFC) for the Tesla Power Project (TPP). MPLLC is seeking approval from the California Energy Commission (Energy Commission) to construct and operate a 1,120 MW combined cycle power generating plant. The site is located on a 60-acre portion of a 160-acre parcel, about 0.5 miles north of the PG&E Tesla Substation in Alameda County.
