Background
On November 22, 2005, Walnut Creek Energy, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Edison Mission Energy, filed an Application for Certification for the Walnut Creek Energy Park, seeking approval from the Energy Commission to construct and operate a nominal 500 megawatt simple-cycle power plant in the City of Industry, Los Angeles County. On February 1, 2006, the Energy Commission accepted the AFC as complete, which initiated Energy Commission staff's independent review of the proposed project. The proposed project site is an 11.48-acre parcel owned by the City of Industry at 911 Bixby Drive.
