NOTICE OF STAFF WORKSHOPS
2005 BUILDING ENERGY EFFICIENCY STANDARDS
FIRST GROUP OF MEASURE REPORTS
The staff of the California Energy Commission will conduct this workshop to obtain public comment on several measures under consideration for the next update to the building Energy Efficiency Standards (Standards) for Residential and Nonresidential Buildings (California Building Code,Title 24, Part 6). The Commission expects to adopt the next update by July 1, 2003, and the standards will go into effect in 2005.

The Energy Efficiency Committee issued a "Notice of Conclusions on Maximum Scope of the 2005 Building Energy Efficiency Standards" on January 18, 2002. The January 2002 Notice identified 28 Committee-selected measures to be considered for the 2005 Building Energy Efficiency Standards. At the April 23, 2002 workshop, the Commission staff will obtain public comment on reports of the first group of the Committee-selected measures. The reports include information on measure cost, energy use analysis and modeling, life cycle cost effectiveness results, and draft Standards requirements. See Web Site for report information.
The April 23, 2002 workshop will focus on the following measures:
- Residential Construction Quality (walls)
- Improvements for Existing Homes (windows)
- Water Heating Distribution Loss Performance Improvement Options (residential)
- Demand Control Ventilation (nonresidential)
- Cooling Towers (nonresidential)
- Lighting Power Allowances - Complete Building and Area Category Methods (nonresidential)
