NOTICE OF STAFF WORKSHOPS
2005 BUILDING ENERGY EFFICIENCY STANDARDS
SECOND GROUP OF MEASURE REPORTS
The staff of the California Energy Commission will conduct this workshop to obtain public comment on several measures under consideration for the next update to the Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Standards) for Residential and Nonresidential Buildings (California Building Code, Title 24, Part 6). The Commission expects to adopt the next update by July 1, 2003, and the standards will go into effect in 2005.

Purpose of the Workshop
The Energy Efficiency Committee issued a "Notice of Conclusions on Maximum Scope of the 2005 Building Energy Efficiency Standards" on January 18, 2002. The January 2002 Notice identified 28 Committee-selected measures to be considered for the 2005 Standards. At the May 30, 2002 workshop, the Commission staff will obtain public comment on reports of the second group of the Committee-selected measures. The reports include information on measure cost, performance and implications, energy use analysis and modeling, life cycle cost effectiveness results, and draft Standards requirements. The May 30, 2002, workshop will focus on the following measures:
- Improvements for Existing Homes (ducts)
- Residential Fenestration
- Hardwired Lighting
- Water Heating in Multi-family Dwellings
- Hourly Water Heating Calculations
- Lighting Controls under Skylights
- Cool Roofs Prescriptive Requirements
- Hydronic System Measures
