NOTICE OF STAFF WORKSHOP
2005 BUILDING ENERGY EFFICIENCY STANDARDS
THIRD GROUP OF MEASURE REPORTS
The staff of the California Energy Commission will conduct
this workshop to obtain public comment on several measures
under consideration for the next update to the Building
Energy Efficiency Standards (Standards) for Residential and
Nonresidential Buildings (California Building Code, Title
24, Part 6).

WORKSHOP WILL BE WEBCAST
On January 18, 2002, the Energy Efficiency Committee issued a "Notice of Conclusions on Maximum Scope of the 2005 Building Energy Efficiency Standards." This January 2002 Notice identified twenty-eight Committee-selected measures to be considered for the 2005 Building Energy Efficiency Standards. The Commission is expected to adopt the update to the Standards by July 1, 2003 and go into effect in 2005.
Purpose of the Workshop
At the July 18, 2002 workshop, the Commission staff will obtain public comment on reports of the third group of the Committee-selected measures. The reports include information on measure cost, performance and implications, energy use analysis and modeling, life cycle cost effectiveness results, and draft Standards requirements.
The July 18, 2002 workshop will focus on reports for the following measures:
- Residential Construction Quality (Attics)
- Residential Air Conditioner Sizing
- Residential Duct Systems
- Modular Classrooms
- Simplification of Nonresidential Tailored Lighting Method
- Bi-Level Lighting Control Credits
- Improvements for Existing Light Commercial
- Nonresidential Duct Sealing and R-8 Mandatory Duct Insulation
The documentation related to these reports will be posted on
the project web-site prior to the July 18, 2002 workshop
