2016 Manufacturer Certification for Equipment, Products and Devices
Under the 2016 Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Title 24, Part 6) Section 120.5 (Required Nonresidential Mechanical Systems Acceptance) subsection (a)(4) Exception: Air economizers installed by the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system manufacturer and certified to the Energy Commission as being factory calibrated and tested are exempt from the Functional Testing section of the Air Economizer Controls acceptance test as described in the 2016 Reference Appendices NA22.214.171.124. To certify to the Energy Commission an HVAC Manufacturer must execute a declaration under penalty of perjury attesting that all information provided in the attached datasheet is true, complete, accurate, and in compliance with the applicable provisions of Part 6.

Note that the requirements for this equipment have not changed from the 2013 to the 2016 version of the Standards; any testing performed on or after January 1, 2017 must be performed under airflow, however re-testing of units already tested without airflow (allowed by an ambiguity in the 2013 Standards) is not required per the findings of additional tests performed. Products certified to this list are compliant with both versions of the Standards.
