Deana Carrillo is the director of the California Energy Commission’s Reliability, Renewable Energy & Decarbonization Incentives Division (RREDI), leading the implementation of the state’s Renewables Portfolio Standard, the power source disclosure program, and other programs that support the development and use of renewable energy in California.
She joined the Energy Commission as manager of the Local Assistance and Financing Office in 2020. Her principal focus has been on managing the Building Initiative for Low-Emissions Development (BUILD) Program. The program will provide incentives to builders interested in producing innovative, all-electric, healthier housing for those most vulnerable to pollution and climate change.
Carrillo has more than 16 years of experience in leadership, public administration, clean energy policy, and finance. She was the executive director of the California Alternative Energy and Advanced Transportation Financing Authority, serving under three different state treasurers. In that position, she developed and oversaw financing programs that supported California’s climate, economic development, and social equity goals.
Carrillo has a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a master’s degree in public policy from UCLA focused on regional economic development and urban poverty.
She lives in Sacramento with her husband and two teenage sons.
