Shawn Pittard is the deputy director for the California Energy Commission’s Siting, Transmission, and Environmental Protection Division. The division ensures energy facilities are located, designed, constructed, operated, and closed in a manner that protects the environment and public health and promotes the general welfare. The division also conducts transmission system planning, transmission engineering analyses, and transmission corridor designation analyses.
Pittard’s career in environmental planning and policy includes work in the private and public sectors. He is also active in the arts. He earned a bachelor of fine arts in studio art and a bachelor of science in geography from Arizona State University, and a master of planning and development studies from the University of Southern California.
