Purpose of Solicitation
The purpose of this solicitation is to fund applied research and development projects that reduce the environmental and public health impacts of electricity generation and make the electricity system less vulnerable to climate impacts.
This solicitation supports research that addresses electricity sector climate resilience policy needs articulated by the Energy Commission’s 2014 Integrated Energy Policy Report, California’s Climate Change Research Plan (2015), and Safeguarding California: Reducing Climate Risk (2013). Energy sector vulnerability and adaptation studies supported by this solicitation are intended to foster proactive adaptation efforts and management strategies that address climate variability and change, and to integrate consideration of climate resilience into the rapid evolution of California’s energy system. Ultimately, research supported by this solicitation will support timely implementation of adaptation strategies and development of decision-support tools that will enhance the climate resilience of the electric system.
