Energy Commission Chair Weisenmiller Supports New Action to
Promote Green Energy Financing

SACRAMENTO - California Energy Commission Chair Robert B. Weisenmiller issued the following statement today in support of President Barack Obama’s executive order that makes it easier for homeowners and businesses to invest in green energy improvements. President Obama has approved new guidance from the Federal Housing Administration that could expand the use of Property-Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing.

"I commend President Obama for accelerating the deployment of clean energy financing for single family properties. Local governments in California were the first to implement these programs, offering a variety of energy efficiency and renewable energy financing opportunities for property owners. The Federal Housing Administration’s guidance, and joint program with the United State Department of Energy, will address concerns raised by lenders and increase homeowner borrowing power, further supporting these local government initiatives. Additionally, the step supports the work underway, led by Governor Jerry Brown, as California continues to lead the world in addressing climate change."
