2020 Edition of the Warren-Alquist Act
The Warren-Alquist Act established the California Energy Commission in 1974 to respond to the energy crisis of the early 1970s and the state’s unsustainable growing demand for energy resources.
The California Legislature continues to amend the act to address pressing energy needs and issues. The Energy Commission’s Chief Counsel’s Office publishes an updated version of the act every year.
