Employment Training Panel/Applied Materials Inc.

The California Energy Commission, through a workforce funding agreement with the Employment Training Panel (ETP), approved $749,952 in funds for Applied Materials Inc. for workforce development and training to provide skills that foster innovation and product development in the lithium-ion battery manufacturing market.

The project received funds from the Energy Commission’s Clean Transportation Program.

Applied Materials Inc. engineers and builds equipment, machines, and tools for clean energy manufacturing industries. The Clean Transportation Program-supported training includes courses in lithium-ion battery design, fabrication, manufacturing, modeling, and integration.

The project is a public-private partnership among the Energy Commission, the ETP, and Applied Materials Inc. More than 400 people will be trained in advanced battery manufacturing and production, where products will be used in the clean transportation sector.
