The San Diego Port Sustainability Freight Demonstration Project will occur in and around the Port of San Diego, reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, improving air quality, and providing health benefits at the ports and surrounding disadvantaged communities. The project will also support the San Diego Unified Port District’s Climate Action Plan, which calls for a 10 percent reduction goal on GHG emissions compared to the 2006 baseline by 2020.
Vehicles to be demonstrated include Transpower’s electric forklift, Efficient DriveTrain’s EDI electric forklift, and BYD’s electric yard tractor and electric drayage truck.
