Staff Workshop on Strategic Pathways and Analytics for Tactical Decommissioning of Portions of Natural Gas Infrastructure

The California Energy Commission (CEC) will host a workshop to discuss and solicit feedback on research activities for two grant agreements awarded to Energy and Environmental Economic, Inc. (E3) and RAND Corporation (RAND) to develop pilot projects that will create strategic pathways and analytics for tactical decommissioning of portions of natural gas infrastructure. Both grants aim to identify tactical decommissioning opportunities with Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) and Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) that support the objective of gas system cost savings. Both projects will include identified community priorities and determine paths for electrification and tactical gas decommissioning.
