Airo Comfort, Inc. (Airo Comfort) is a Rowland Heights, California, based company that manufactures portable air conditioners. Airo Comfort sold or offered for sale portable air conditioners in California, from January 2020 to October 2021.

This case was the result of an anonymous complaint. The California Energy Commission (CEC) investigation and testing process identified that Airo Comfort was manufacturing and offering for sale portable air conditioners that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Airo Comfort executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on January 14, 2022, for $32,230.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Airo Comfort has also agreed to a compliance plan to certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
