AKDY Imports,LLC (AKDY) is a Rancho Cucamonga, California, based company who distributes plumbing fittings, residential exhaust fans, and wine chillers. AKDY sold or offered for sale plumbing fittings, residential exhaust fans, and wine chillers in California, during the time period of July 2014 to April 2017.

This case was discovered through Office of Compliance Assistance and Enforcement staff research. The Energy Commission's investigation process identified AKDY distributing and offering for sale plumbing fittings that failed the efficiency standard, were not marked properly, and were not certified to the Appliance Efficiency Database (Database).

To settle this matter, AKDY executed a Settlement Agreement with the Commission on January 8, 2017, for $245,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011(Pavley). AKDY has also agreed to a compliance plan to redesign, test, and certify all appliances to the Database before continuing to sell into California.
