AS America, Inc. (American Standard) is a Piscataway, New Jersey, based company that manufactures plumbing products. American Standard sold or offered for sale kitchen faucets, lavatory faucets, and public lavatory faucets in California, from January 2015 to September 2020.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC's investigation and testing process identified that American Standard was manufacturing and offering for sale kitchen faucets, lavatory faucets, and public lavatory faucets that were certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS) but were not tested in accordance with the test method.

To settle this matter, American Standard executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on November 16, 2021, for $41,119.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). American Standard has also agreed to a compliance plan to test their products using the correct test method before continuing to sell in California.
