Beverage-Air Corporation (Beverage-Air) is a company that manufactures refrigeration and cooking products based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Beverage-Air sold or offered for sale commercial refrigerators and commercial hot food holding cabinets in California, from January 2021 to January 2025.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Beverage-Air was manufacturing and offering for sale Beverage-Air brand commercial refrigerators and commercial hot food holding cabinets that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To resolve this matter, Beverage-Air executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on June 30, 2025, for $307,215.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount as required in Public Resources Code section 25402.11. Beverage-Air has also agreed to a compliance plan to test and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
