Bobsweep USA, a Henderson, Nevada based company that manufactures and distributes robotic vacuum cleaners using small battery charger systems, sold non-complaint units in California between November 1, 2015 and May 31, 2016. The California Energy Commission (CEC) staff had one of these units tested at the California State University, Sacramento-College of Engineering Energy Efficiency Laboratory and found it to be in violation of the energy efficiency regulations governing small battery charger systems. The CEC staff notified the manufacturer who immediately reengineered their small battery chargers systems to comply with the regulations. They also included the required battery charger (BC) labeling/marking on each unit's battery charger system and in the product's literature as required by the regulations. The company is now in full compliance. To settle this matter, the company executed a settlement agreement with CEC on August 8, 2016 for $27,000.00. Additionally, they have recertified all models in the CEC appliance efficiency database and provided engineering test reports demonstrating this compliance. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley).
