Brightening House Inc. is a company that manufactures plumbing products based in Guangdong Province, China. Brightening House Inc. sold or offered for sale lavatory faucets, showerheads, and showerhead tub spout diverters in California, from May 2021 to July 2025.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Brightening House Inc. was manufacturing and offering for sale Boyel Living brand lavatory faucets, showerheads, and showerhead tub spout diverters that did not meet the efficiency standard, were not marked properly, and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To resolve this matter, Brightening House Inc. executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on February 5, 2026, for $13,836.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount as required in Public Resources Code section 25402.11. Brightening House Inc. has also agreed to a compliance plan to redesign the non-compliant models to meet the efficiency standard, add the appropriate marking, and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
