Chef Kitch, Inc. (Chef Kitch) is a South San Francisco, California, based company that manufactures range hoods and ceiling fans. Chef Kitch sold or offered for sale residential exhaust fans and ceiling fans in California, from June 2018 to September 2019.

This case was the result of an anonymous complaint. The California Energy Commission's (CEC) investigation process identified that Chef Kitch was manufacturing and offering for sale residential exhaust fans and ceiling fans that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Chef Kitch executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on January 31, 2020, for $11,500.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Chef Kitch has also agreed to a compliance plan to certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
