Culligan International Company (Culligan) is a Rosemont, Illinois, based company that manufactures plumbing fittings. Culligan sold or offered for sale showerheads in California, from July 2015 to March 2020.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC's investigation and testing process identified that Culligan was manufacturing and offering for sale showerheads that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Culligan executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on September 24, 2020, for $150,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Culligan has also agreed to a compliance plan to certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
