DGL Group Limited (DGL), is an Edison, New Jersey, based company that sells hoverboards. DGL sold or offered for sale hoverboards in California, from January 2017 to January 2019.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC's investigation and testing process identified that DGL was importing and offering for sale hoverboards containing small battery charger systems that did not meet the efficiency standard, failed the marking requirement, and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, DGL executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on July 30, 2020, for $50,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). DGL has also agreed to a compliance plan to redesign the non-compliant charger to meet the efficiency standard, add the appropriate marking, and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
