Eaton Corporation (Eaton) is a company that manufactures electronics and transformers based in Cleveland, Ohio. Eaton sold or offered for sale battery chargers and transformers in California, from September 2020 to September 2024.

This case was the result of a complaint. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Eaton was manufacturing and offering for sale Eaton and Trippe Lite brand battery chargers and transformers that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To resolve this matter, Eaton executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on August 15, 2025, for $405,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount as required in Public Resources Code 25402.11. Eaton has also agreed to a compliance plan to certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
