EcoReco, Corporation (EcoReco) is a Santa Clara, California, based company that manufactures electric scooters and hoverboards. EcoReco sold or offered for sale electric scooters and hoverboards in California, from August 2017 to August 2019.

This case was the result of a closed case follow up investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC's investigation process identified that EcoReco was manufacturing and offering for sale electric scooters and hoverboards containing small battery charging systems that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, EcoReco executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on January 29, 2020, for $2,500.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). EcoReco has also agreed to a compliance plan to certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
