Elicamex S.A. de C.V. (Elica) is a company that manufactures non-commercial refrigerators, miscellaneous refrigeration products, fans and dehumidifiers based in Santa Rosa Jauregui, Queretaro, Mexico. Elica sold or offered for sale refrigerators, wine coolers, and residential exhaust fans in California, from December 2020 to December 2024.

This case was the result of a complaint. CEC’s investigation process identified that Elica was manufacturing and offering for sale refrigerators, wine coolers, and residential exhaust fans that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To resolve this matter, Elica executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on September 11, 2025, for $50,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount as required in Public Resources Code 25402.11. Elica has also agreed to a compliance plan to certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
