Elkay Manufacturing Company (Elkay) is a Downers Grove, Illinois based company that manufactures plumbing fittings. Elkay sold or offered for sale kitchen faucets in California, from July 2015 to December 2021.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation and testing process identified that Elkay was manufacturing and offering for sale kitchen faucets that failed the marking requirement and were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, Elkay executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on September 2, 2022, for $20,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Elkay has also agreed to a compliance plan to add the appropriate marking and certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
