ESI Cases & Accessories (ESI) is a New York, New York, based company who manufactures wireless headphones containing a small battery charger system. ESI sold or offered for sale wireless headphones in California, during the time period of July 2015 to September 2017.

This case was a result of a market survey performed by California Energy Commission (Commission) staff. The Commission's testing and investigation process identified ESI manufacturing and offering for sale wireless headphones not marked properly and not certified to the Appliance Efficiency Database (Database).

To settle this matter, ESI executed a Settlement Agreement with the Commission on March 1, 2018, for $55,520.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011(Pavley). ESI has also agreed to a compliance plan to apply the proper marking and certify each model to the Database before continuing to sell into California.
