GE Appliances, a Haier Company (GEA) is a company that manufactures residential cooking products based in Louisville, Kentucky. GEA sold or offered for sale gas cooking products in California, from July 2020 to July 2024.

This case was the result of a complaint. CEC’s investigation process identified that GEA was manufacturing and offering for sale GE, Café, Haier, GE Profile Series, Hotpoint, Crosley, and Monogram brand gas cooking products that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To resolve this matter, GEA executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on February 5, 2026, for $76,500.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount as required in Public Resources Code section 25402.11. GEA has also agreed to a compliance plan to certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
