GE Lighting is an East Cleveland, Ohio based company that manufactures and distributes a wide range of lighting products, including LEDs and connected lighting, for virtually every socket in every room of the home. From April 1, 2011 through June 26, 2017, GE Lighting sold or offered for sale four incandescent reflector lamps that were not certified to the Appliance Efficiency Database (Database), per the Appliance Efficiency Regulations.

GE Lighting discovered the issue internally and promptly reported the problem to the California Energy Commission (Energy Commission), and immediately placed a product hold on the incandescent reflector lamps to block any future product shipments by GE Lighting to California-based retailers and distributors pending certification of the incandescent reflector lamps with the Energy Commission.

To settle this matter, GE Lighting executed a settlement agreement with the Energy Commission on September 29, 2017, and in consideration of the agreement paid the Energy Commission $100,000.00. GE Lighting has also certified each of the incandescent reflector lamps to the Database. The company is now in full compliance. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley).
