Greenworks Tools (Greenworks) is a Mooresville, North Carolina based company who manufactures and distributes power tools and lawn and garden equipment containing small battery charging systems (SBCS). From July 2015 to November 2017, Greenworks sold or offered for sale various power tools and lawn and garden equipment in California.

This case was a result of a market survey performed by California Energy Commission (Energy Commission) staff. The Energy Commission's investigation and testing process identified Greenworks offering for sale through various retailers power tools and lawn and garden equipment containing small battery charging systems not certified to the Appliance Efficiency Database (Database).

To settle this matter, Greenworks executed a Settlement Agreement with the Energy Commission on April 20, 2018, for $113,000.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). Greenworks has also agreed to a compliance plan to certify each model to the Database before continuing to sell into California.
