HKC-US, LLC (HKC) is a Memphis, Tennessee based company that manufactures ceiling fans. HKC sold or offered for sale ceiling fans in California, from March 2018 to March 2022.

This case was the result of an investigation performed by California Energy Commission (CEC) staff. CEC’s investigation process identified that HKC was manufacturing and offering for sale ceiling fans that were not certified to the Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS).

To settle this matter, HKC executed a Settlement Agreement with CEC on October 28, 2022, for $78,325.00. The penalty monies are deposited into the Appliance Efficiency Enforcement Subaccount established by SB 454 of 2011 (Pavley). HKC has also agreed to a compliance plan to certify all models to MAEDbS before continuing to sell in California.
